President's Welcome Remarks

Dear Colleagues and Friends,

Welcome to the official website of the Philippine Society for Gynecologic Endoscopy (PSGE). As we celebrate our 20th anniversary, we reflect on two decades of dedication, innovation, and excellence in gynecologic endoscopy. This milestone is a testament to the foresight and leadership of our past presidents, especially our founding president and visionary, Prof. Delfin A. Tan, whose dedication laid the foundation for our society's success and propelled us forward.

This year, we are thrilled to host our Annual Congress, titled "Shaping the Future of MIGS by Drawing Wisdom from the Past," on August 12-13, 2024, at the EDSA Shangri-La Hotel. This event will feature high-yield lectures, telesurgery sessions, and video presentations, showcasing the latest advancements and techniques in gynecologic endoscopy. We are honored to collaborate once again with the European Society for Gynecologic Endoscopy and the Asia Pacific Association for Gynecologic Endoscopy for the Second Tripartite Meeting of our three societies. The event will commence with a pre-congress GESEA workshop on August 11 at the Karl Storz Endoscopy Philippines Headquarters.

To commemorate our anniversary, we have planned monthly activities designed to foster camaraderie and engagement among our members. We began the year with a Tree Planting event in January, followed by various activities from February to July, including a Virtual Serenade for Valentine's Day, a solemn Recollection for Lent, an exciting Breakout game, a well-attended Bowling event and bonding session, and a blockbuster Nurses' Gynecologic Endoscopy Workshop. Due to popular demand, we will hold a second nurses’ workshop before the year ends. We have many more exciting activities planned for September, October, November, and December, organized by our dedicated Board of Trustees.

In line with our commitment to making Minimal Access Surgery accessible to all, and as a key component of our educational thrust, the various training institutions host the Grand Rounds in rotation. For this year, we have line up MIGS Grand Rounds and Regional Webinars, hosted by our affiliated Training Institutions. For Luzon: Far Eastern University Nicanor Reyes Memorial Foundation/Jose R. Reyes Memorial Medical Center (FEU/JRRMMC) Consortium, for Visayas: Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center/Chong Hua Hospital (VSMMC/CHH) Consortium, for Mindanao: Southern Philippines Medical Center (SPMC), and for NCR: University of the Philippines-Philippine General Hospital (UP-PGH), for the months of February, May, July, and October, respectively.

We look forward to future Grand Rounds hosted by other institutions next year. Please join us for these highly enriching exchanges of ideas held every quarter.

In alignment with our commitment to collaborate with the POGS CREED and support their initiative to integrate MIGS into residency training, we invite OB-GYN residents, fellows-in-training, and consultants to explore our SCOPE program, available for free on our website. This project, spearheaded by our former PSGE President, Prof. Maria Antonia E. Habana, aims to offer trainees a standardized learning tool for gynecologic endoscopy. We urge everyone, both trainees and trainors, to take full advantage of this valuable educational resource.

Lastly, I extend my heartfelt gratitude to the exceptional Organizing Committee, our Dream Team, led by our Vice President and Overall Chair, Dr. Gladys Tanangonan, along with the Scientific Committee chaired by Dr. Regta Pichay and Dr. Prudence Aquino-Aquino, and the chairs and members of each subcommittee, for their tireless work in preparing for the PSGE 2024 Annual Congress. Special thanks also go to the Board of Trustees for their unwavering commitment and support in organizing our monthly activities. Furthermore, I would like to express our deepest appreciation to our Industry Partners, whose generous support has made all our activities possible.

Together, let us continue to advance the field of gynecologic endoscopy, inspire upcoming generations, and uphold the highest standards of excellence in our practice. As we commemorate our 20th year, let us shape the future of MIGS by drawing wisdom from the past.

Warm regards,

Regina Paz A. Tan-Espiritu, MD, MSc
