In June 9, 2021, the Council for Residents’ Education, Enhancement and Development (CREED) and Philippine Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology (PBOG) recommended the implementation of the integration of minimally invasive gynecologic surgery (MIGS) in residency starting 2021 (CREED-PBOG resolution 2021-001). It is expected that at the end of the residency training in Obstetrics and Gynecology, the trainee should have performed at least one (1) diagnostic hysteroscopy and one (1) diagnostic pelvic laparoscopy under the supervision of a consultant staff who is a PSGE fellow. This applies for all graduates of the training programs starting 2024. An updated instructional design for residents in collaboration with the Philippine Society for Gynecologic Endoscopy (PSGE) was likewise developed.

SCOPE: Surgical Competency  On Pelvic Endoscopy is an on line, self-paced program and hopes to supplement the residents’ learning experience. The course will be available at the PSGE website from June 2022 till December 2024 and is based on the approved residency curriculum for MIGS. It is purely educational in purpose and is intended for residents in training in obstetrics and gynecology in the Philippines. The speakers took great care in verifying the contents of their lectures and references are cited when necessary. The content is current as of the time of posting but the attendees are encouraged to confirm the information contained in this program.

In addition to the lectures, there are structured skill exercises for both laparoscopy and hysteroscopy training. Similar exercises were performed on inanimate models using a Do-It-Yourself (DIY) box trainer, standard box trainer and a virtual reality trainer (Simbionix).

It is highly recommended that the residents undergo periodic assessment and evaluation for both the didactic portion and skill exercises.

We would also like to emphasize that your feedback of the course is important to us! Please complete the form after every objective.

Happy learning!
